Amelia’s POV

I breathed in relief the moment he left.

That death stare he gave me was really scary!

Was I wrong slapping him? No. He violated my body so he deserved it.

But why did I enjoy every bit of it?

Oh God!.

If I keep staying here, he’s going to kill me one day. I have to leave.

I looked at my half naked and dishelved state. Funny how he did those things to me still fully dressed while I was almost naked. I got up and headed to the bathroom.

In the shower, I scrubbed my skin in a desperation to wipe his scent off me. As soon as the water touched the fresh bite mark on my neck, a wave of pain washed over me.

I walked out of the bathroom in a towel and went straight to the dressing table. Brushing my hair to the side, I stared at the spot. Four bright red puncture marks stared right back at me. They Looked like they would never go away.

I’m still surprised that he has four fangs instead of two. Why does he keep biting me on the same spot?. Dark bruises already appeared on my neck from his choking grip earlier, even swallowing seemed almost impossible.

I have to leave this place, I can’t stay here anymore. I’ll pretend everything is okay, let him lower his guard-and then, I run. I must leave before he forces me into a life- binding contract with him.

I stayed in my room throughout the night. Dinner was brought by one of the maids. Chicken soup, porridge and steak. I ate and lay on my bed afterwards, stirring for hours. sleep refused to come.

My mind kept flashing back to the weight of his massive body, pinning me to the bed. The heat of his large veiny hands on my body. It felt too good, I wished he wouldn’t stop. I hated him- I truly did- but my body had craved for it, wanted more.

Why’s that? It’s not meant to be that way. I sighed and shut my eyes tightly just to wave off those thoughts but it wasn’t working.

I wish I could take a walk. But I might just bump into him. He’s a Nightwalker, and he doesn’t sleep.

Oh God!, my life has gotten so much worse. After much turning and thinking, I finally fell asleep.

Sunlight seeped into my room through the window and rested on my face. I opened my eyes to realize it was already Noon. Using my hand to protect my face from the rays, I groaned and got off the bed. I slept very late last night, and my body ached. I guess that’s why I slept this long.

I walked to the window, and was about shutting the blinds when I saw several black cars drive out of the palace gates. Where is he going? Oh. I forgot, he’s a freaking wealthy businessman. I don’t know how many companies he has, but from what I heard, it’s a lot.

I immediately shut the blinds, before he sees me again. I walked back to the bed and sat down. Tomorrow is the seventh day, and I have no intention of accepting to be his fucking cure.

But he has already threatened to kill a lot of people, if I refuse. What do I do?. I have no one to run to, no friends, no family. It’s just me.

I want to scream so bad but, I can’t.

A knock on the door finally interrupted my thoughts. I walked over and opened the door. it was Kara and-

“Adeline?” I was surprised to see her. She looked pretty, and had her usual Red color on.

“Hi beautiful.“ she smiled at me. I opened the door wide enough and they walked in.

“How have you been, Amelia?” She asked, and I rolled my eyes. How does she think I’ve been?

“I’ve been, fine.” I responded and exhaled.

“Hold on. What are those marks on your neck? Did Helion do this to you?” Kara asked, her hand reached out, touching my neck. I had totally forgotten about the marks, but I winced the moment she mentioned it.

“It’s nothing. I’m fine.” I gave her a weak smile. But deep down, I was broken.

“The contract is ready. so tomorrow, you just need to sign.” Adeline said. I scoffed and gave her a stern look.

“I’m not doing it. I won’t do it.” I stated firmly.

“Amelia, please. You have to do this. I know Helion is brutal and dangerous. But trust me, he will never hurt innocent people.” Kara said and I scoffed. She has so much trust in someone who transforms into a monster with two horns. It’s sick.

“I insist. I am not signing that contract.”

“You know that, even if you don’t sign, he will still take you by force. And i assure you, you wouldn’t want that.” Adeline said.

But why’s no one even feeling sorry for me? They all want me to accept being some stupid cure.

“I’d like to take a shower.” I got up and walked to the bathroom.

“Alright, come down for lunch later. Okay?” I heard Kara say as the door opened and slammed shut.

I breathed out, and closed my eyes. I have to leave here tonight.

I showered and came out of the bathroom in a towel and a flip flop. I decided to get lunch in my room, Alone. I opened the door, came out of my room, traced the kitchen and found it. The maids bowed immediately they saw me. I was shocked. why are they bowing?.

“Hi. I came to get something for lunch.” I smiled at them.

“Sure, ma’am. What would you like?” One of the maids asked and I told her my preferences. She put them in a golden tray and was about taking it to my room, but I took it from her and headed back.

After lunch, it felt like the rest of the day was fast-forwarded. The sun set faster than it should have . I looked down at my hands and they were trembling. I won’t lie, I am scared.

I walked into the closet and searched for a loose fitting dress, something that I can easily run in. I searched till I found one. A short, black gown, with a slit on the right side. picked it and placed it on the bed.

Then I brought out a pair of flat shoes. After that, I waited.

I don’t know where I’ll go. But anywhere away from here should do.

I waited till it was dark. Helion came back few hours ago and was in his chambers, I guess.

I learnt there’s a back gate, and it’s usually less guarded. Just that there are torns on the gate. But that didn’t matter.

I took off my clothes and put on the black gown, tied my hair tightly in a bun. Then put on the shoes…

I gently turned the lock, then opened the door, careful not to make a sound. I walked out of the room, and tiptoed slowly to the stairs. I successfully came down the stairs, and walked quietly to the back of the house, the back gate looming closer and closer until I finally reached it.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t locked, just bolted. I tried to unbolt it, the torns pierced my hands, but I didn’t mind. I kept trying till i opened it. I breathed out in relief.

I slowly fit myself into the space and came out to the other side. Darkness overshadowed me. I could barely see a thing. The street lights were turned off, the only light that shown were rays from the moon. I immediately took to my heels, running as fast as I could. The road was eerily quiet, i could hear the sounds of my own footsteps, the hairs on my body stand erect. I ran for a while till I was sure I was far enough from the palace then I stopped and crouched on the ground. Breathing hard.

I can’t believe I did it! Or… maybe I thought I did.

Suddenly, there were footsteps. The sound wasn’t coming from behind me, but from the front. I stood up immediately. It was dark and I could not see who it was. I was already very far away from the palace. The steps got closer and closer until a pair of red, glowing eyes appeared.

My eyes widened in shock, I could easily hear the sound of my heartbeat, and it felt like it would jump out of my chest any second.

Oh God! He found me? But how?

I turned around, and tried to run, to take another route. But a force pulled me down, pinning me to the ground. I couldn’t move no matter how hard I tried.

The footsteps got closer and closer until it was right in front of me. A pair of black, shiny shoes stopped right in front of me. Then, I perceived his rich sandalwood scent before I even saw his face. He crouched down in front of me and grabbed my chin, forcing me to look at him.

“Going somewhere?” His Timbre so deep I could easily hear the anger vibrating in it. I swallowed hard, my voice completely caught in my throat. I couldn’t say a word.
