Fitted For The Thorne: The Reborn Omega's Reign · by Diana

~The Bonfire Night ~

MASIHAH POV

The sun dipped below the jagged tree line of the Dark Moon Pack territory, casting the sprawling expanse of the Alpha Academy campus in a deep, bruised twilight. By the time the evening shadows stretched across the quadrangles, the air hummed with the heavy, electric bass of the annual Midnight Fire Party. Torches blazed along the perimeter of the forest, throwing flickering amber light over hundreds of elite students draped in designer jackets, laughing, drinking, and losing their inhibitions in the smoky haze.

Inside the Dorm Room, Maya stood in front of the vanity mirror, frantically reapplying her cherry-tinted lip gloss while smoothing down a daring black dress she had smuggled in from the city.

"I'm telling you, Masihah, tonight is the night," Maya declared, turning around with a dramatic flourish. "The cheer squad has been whispering by the lockers all afternoon about their little 'welcome prank' near the bonfire pit. They think they're going to humiliate you in front of the entire school. But little do they know, I spent the last three hours modifying three separate cans of industrial silly string with a heavy-duty mixture of fluorescent blue dye and super-strength itching powder. Whoever tries to trip you is walking away looking like a Smurf with hives."

I sat calmly on my mattress, adjusting the sleeves of my oversized, drab gray sweater. It was the exact same frumpy disguise I wore every day, carefully to hide the lush, full curves of my body shape.

"Save your ammunition, Maya," I said softly, a faint, cold smile touching my lips. "Let them try their little game. Sometimes, you have to let the wolves step into the trap before you pull the cord."

"Ooh, cold blooded. I love it," Maya grinned, grabbing her jacket. "Come on. If we don't hurry, we'll miss the initial chaos, and more importantly, we'll miss Ryder standing by the VIP perimeter looking like a gothic painting come to life."

~The Bonfire Mixer~

When Maya and I stepped out into the clearing surrounding the massive bonfire, the heat hit us like a physical wave. The crackling flames leaped thirty feet into the air, casting wild shadows across the mob of dancing students. The scent of roasted meat, expensive cologne, and cheap alcohol hung thick in the cool night breeze.

True to Maya’s prediction, it didn't take long for the elite social hierarchy to make its move.

As I navigated the outer edge of the clearing, carrying a paper cup of cider, a sudden, sharp shove struck me heavily from behind. The cheer captain, a sleek, platinum-blonde she-wolf named Chloe whose family controlled half the pack's textile imports, stepped directly into my path with an exaggerated stumble.

"Oops! Watch where you're walking, you clumsy draft horse," Chloe sneered loudly, turning to her squad with a theatrical gasp. "Oh, goodness, look at her—she can't even carry a cup without taking up half the pathway. Honestly, why are omegas with zero grace even allowed at the mixer?"

A ripple of cruel laughter broke out among the surrounding students. Clara, standing a few paces away with a group of admiring elite heirs, watched the scene unfold with a bright, vindictive smirk, whispering something to Ethan that made him chuckle darkly.

Maya immediately surged forward, her hand dipping into her jacket pocket where her modified silly string canisters were locked and loaded, but I raised a single hand, stopping my roommate dead in her tracks.

I didn't drop my cider. I didn't burst into humiliated tears the way I would have in my past life. Instead, I stood completely still, letting my full frame absorb the push, my eyes locking onto Chloe with a gaze so dark and chilling that the cheer captain’s smug smile faltered for a fraction of a second.

"Are you quite finished, Chloe?" I asked, my voice low, level, and entirely devoid of fear.

Chloe blinked, taken aback by the eerie calmness in my tone. Before she could recover her voice to hurl another insult, a heavy, suffocating pressure dropped over the entire clearing.

The chatter and laughter instantly choked off, dying down into a nervous, dead silence.

From the shadows of the eastern perimeter, two figures emerged into the firelight.

Ryder walked with slow, measured strides, his tailored blazer catching the amber glow of the flames, his silver-gray eyes locked onto the scene with arctic fury. A few paces to his right, Lucifer strode forward like an apex predator smelling blood in the water, his midnight-black hair ruffled by the wind, his predatory amber eyes burning with a volatile, terrifying intensity.

The students parted like Moses parting the Red Sea, scrambling backward in sheer panic. Nobody dared breathe too loudly when Ryder and Lucifer entered the same space, let alone when they looked this angry.

Chloe turned around, her face instantly melting into a sweet, fluttering smile as she spotted the two Alpha heirs. "Oh….Lord Ryder, Lord Lucifer! We were just... just having a little fun with the pack's new transfer—"

"Fun," Ryder repeated, his voice smooth as glass, yet sharp enough to draw blood. He stopped two feet away from Chloe, looking down at her with an expression of pure, unadulterated contempt. "Is that what you call harassing students in the middle of a pack gathering?"

"I……I didn't mean—" Chloe stammered, her porcelain facade cracking as the freezing weight of Ryder's gaze pinned her in place.

Lucifer didn't bother speaking to her at all. His amber eyes bypassed Chloe entirely, locking straight onto me. He stepped past the terrified cheer captain, ignoring her completely, and stopped directly in front of me, his gaze sweeping over my frame to ensure I hadn't actually been hurt. A dark, dangerous smirk touched his lips, though his jaw remained clenched tight.

"You have a remarkable knack for finding trouble, sweetheart," Lucifer murmured, his voice a low, gravelly hum meant only for my ears. "Or perhaps trouble simply knows better than to leave you alone."

Across the clearing, Clara watched the interaction with mounting horror and disbelief.

“Why? I knew her mind was screaming. “Why are the two most powerful Alphas in the academy constantly hovering around that heavy, useless omega?”

Ryder stepped up beside Lucifer, forming an impenetrable wall of aristocratic authority that shielded me from the staring crowd. He turned his cold, silver-gray eyes back toward Chloe, who was now trembling visibly.

"Consider this your first and final warning, Chloe," Ryder said quietly, his tone freezing the air around them. "If you, or anyone else in your little squad, ever crosses her path again, your family's textile contracts won't be the only things dissolving in the fire. Am I understood?"

"Y-Yes, Lord Ryder," Chloe choked out, turning on her heel and fleeing into the crowd with her squad trailing behind her in absolute humiliation.

The students around the bonfire looked away, pretending to be deeply fascinated by the flames, terrified of drawing the wrath of the two Alphas.

I looked up, meeting Lucifer’s gaze and Ryder’s calculating silver-gray eyes. Deep down, a cold, calculated satisfaction bloomed in my chest. They thought they were playing the knight in shining armor, rushing to rescue a helpless victim. They had no idea that the victim was the one holding the match, and that the bonfire of their entire academy was only just beginning to burn.

"Thank you... for your intervention," I said softly, dropping my gaze into the classic posture of a submissive omega, hiding the lethal fire blazing in my eyes. "I can manage myself, but... I appreciate the assistance."

"Can you?" Lucifer whispered, leaning in just a fraction closer, his breath warm against my ear as his amber eyes gleamed with wicked amusement. "Because I spend half my time wondering whether you're about to apologize or slit someone's throat."

Ryder shot Lucifer a sharp, warning glare before turning his attention back to me, his expression softening into something dangerously gentle. "Come along, Masihah. Let's get you away from this noise. The night air is getting colder."

As Ryder offered his arm and Lucifer flanked my other side like a lethal shadow, Maya stood frozen three feet away, clutching her silly string canisters, whispering a silent prayer to whatever gods listened to college students: “If I die tonight, tell my mother I went to heaven.”
