The entire office is seriously tense; Daniel is barely holding on; he's like an addict whose drug was taken away from him. We've been stuck here for about a week; Rebel calls occasionally, and this is the only time he's at peace, even for a while, and because she's currently not in the country, it's a very tense atmosphere. How did he think he could think this tempest of a being? I keep wondering if she's trouble, but she centres on him and can hold her own anywhere she finds herself. I'm brought out of my reverie when I hear Daniel snap at Mia, who is once again barely dressed and trying to shoot a shot at him, but she doesn't get it; if she had a chance to get back with him before, it's gone now. He'd never leave Rebel because he's locked. "I will tell you this again, Mia: I am not interested in whatever fantasy you're cooking, and unless I meet your boss in person or unless representatives come in, we don't need to collaborate on anything. You've given me enough of a headache as it is. Mia simply chuckles. "Do you have any idea how much money you'd be throwing away? "Do I look or seem poor? I can achieve whatever is needed without you or your backing. "You'd close a deal that thousands are reliant on because of a mere woman?" Okay, I have to step in before he loses his mind. I clear my throat. "Mia, I suggest you do or say what you want to carefully; do not poke an angry bear. Daniel, please calm down; everyone here feels like running as it is. The relief on the face of every employee is enormous as they all exhale. "I apologise if I got carried away and overstepped my boundaries; my employer will be here physically to grant a physical meeting before this meeting is over." Mia states rather timidly. I chuckle loudly. "Now that wasn’t so hard, was it, Mia?" Someone should get sparkling water in for everyone. An employee quickly stands to get the task done. Three hours into the meeting, there's some commotion as several uniformed armed men step into our midst; they are simply unapologetic and determined; I'm immediately on alert, nodding subtly at Daniel, who watches the whole thing in annoyance. I step up to him immediately behind him. Mia swiftly stands; she's nervous. The Mia we know is everything but fearful, so what scares her this bad? "My employers are here." She says softly, and before I'm able to question her further, a striking woman in her mid-forties and a very good-looking early fifties man step in. You couldn’t hear even a pin drop; we're all in shock; this woman is an older version of Rebel. She is drop-dead gorgeous, but that wasn’t the most shocking factor here; the man has Rebel’s eyes. Daniel is presently so tense; I tap his shoulder and he clears his throat. "Welcome to Williams Enterprises. I had no idea you'd be coming in now." Mia nervously got up to make an introduction while they took their seats. The woman looks at Mia, shakes her head and then goes on to address us all. "Forgive the circus; I am a royal princess, and though the position has its advantages, there are disadvantages also involved." I'm Carly Rhodes, and my husband here is Jacquè Rhodes. Nice meeting you all. I simply smile because she is a firecracker and so similar to Rebèl; she is a fashion mogul, and her husband is a billionaire tycoon; there isn't a single person in the country who doesn't know them or has heard of their names yet until today. I never paid attention to the resemblance. "Shall we proceed with the meeting?" All through the meeting, I discovered Daniel staring at them until the meeting was over. After their departure, we go home; Daniel is lost in thought, possibly trying to understand why they are so similar to Rebel. I live in the same building to enable me to be able to protect him duly. A sudden commotion ensues as we drive into the house; one of the guards has a knife placed on Daniel’s neck, and I am so shocked I stay rooted where I am; how did this happen? I verify all bodyguards, and the first quality I check out for is loyalty, so how did they get to this person? "Everybody stand down." I instruct all the men around. Daniel simply laughs. "Do you have any idea who you're messing with?" The guard is a rookie who is in his late twenties, and right now, knife or no, Daniel is just trying to see if he'd slip up and name his employers or at least give a lead. The rookie's hands are shaky and unstable, and he pierces Daniel's skin. "Get five hundred million dollars transferred to the offshore account I give, and he lives." He recites an account like a robot, and as I'm about to make the call to get the money transferred, a single bullet pierces the rookie's eyeballs, and he is dead instantly. A protective formation shield is immediately formed around Daniel, and we start inspecting all the angles around the house to find where the shooter is. We slowly move him into the house. Daniel isn't moved or scared; much worse has happened to him time and time again, and all he simply tells me is that he wants to see the bullet that took down the rookie. "Baby, are you okay?" I look up and see Catya running up to me; she's wearing so little – she's in her sleepwear – so I tell all the men to leave us. Daniel looks at me, shakes his head and chuckles; he knows how much I hate people, especially men, seeing her like this, and he understands now since he has Rebel. He asks for a bottle of Scotch mixed with ice and sips from his glass while we're waiting for the bullet. I kiss Catya long and hard, but I'm brought out of my reverie as Daniel chuckles widely, and we move closer to him to observe the bullet; it has the inscription "R", but before we can question him further, he runs to his room excited.
