Helion’s POV
I always suspected kelvin, my instincts never lie. He was involved in all of this.
“Tell me, who did you see?”I asked him, my gaze fixed on him.
“Samantha “ he responded.
A dark chuckle rumbled in my throat. He claimed he had not seen her for years but he forgot who I am, I could catch her scent clinging to him, though it was very faint.
I knew everything now. The man in the woods. It was all his plot. I have worked with Samantha in the past, and though I suspected she was in cahoots with the shadow realm, she suddenly disappeared without a trace.
“Let us depart” I got up and walked to the door with peter following behind. We boarded the jet and headed back to Bulgaria.
We arrived at sunset, after a grueling eleven hour journey. There were cars waiting for us at the airport. we hit the road immediately, back to the palace. We arrived few hours later, I came down and looked around. A strange scent filled the air.
I walked into the house, straight to my chambers. I ordered Peter to round up the guards and the maids. I will fish out the spy myself.
Amelia must have heard that I am back, and have locked herself up in her room. I will deal with her later.
A knock suddenly came on my door.
“Come in”
Kara walked into the room. “Helion, wow! You look great!” She remarked, and I chuckled.
“Why are you here?”
“What? You are asking me that? I’m here to check on you" she responded rolling her eyes. "I’m ready for the cleansing ritual, I have to do it before I go back “ she responded.
“Kara, please…”
“Ba… Ba… Ba, don’t Helion. The ritual must happen before I go back. You know all I care about is your safety-“
My brows shot upwards in disbelief. "Did you just cut me off?” I looked at her, my expression had turned to a stern one.
“I…I am sorry, but If that’s what it takes for you to agree to the ritual, then yes, I just did.” She responded and I scoffed.
“I have spoiled you way too much . Let us do it in four days time. By then, Amelia will have signed the contract
“Four days? That’s…”
I gave her a death stare and she immediately recoiled.
“Of cause. your majesty. Whatever you want.” She gave a weak smile and walked over to my table “Is there anything I can help you with?” She asked, her eyes scanning through the files on the table.
“Of course. You know you are will be entering the business world once you have finished college, so I guess it’s time you start learning how these things work.“ I smirked at her, knowing what her response will be.
Growing up, she has always hated anything about business. She just wanted to be a witch and maybe own her own supernatural store in future but I want more for her. Since she is a human, I want to give her the best life before the inevitable happens.
“Ahh… I forgot. I’m helping Amelia do something today so I’ll just go to her room. See you later! “ she smiled and bolted for the door, but with a wave of my hand, I slammed it shut.
“Come. Back. Here.” I signaled with my fingers.
“Please… you can’t force me into business. You know I don’t want that “ she said, her expression turning sullen.
“You must do it, even if you do not want to.”
“But…”
A sudden knock on the door interrupted us.
“Come in” Peter walked in. “Your majesty, I’ve rounded up all the staffs. They are waiting in the East hall" he said.
“Good. We will finish this conversation later. for now, come with me. See if you can recognize the man who tried to poison Amelia“ I said to Kara, got up and left with Peter, with her trailing behind us.
We got to the East hall and I pushed the huge doors open, the same strange scent drifted into my nostrils.
“Are you sure this is all of them?” I asked Peter. he nodded.
They all bowed the moment they saw me.
“Where is Adeline?” I asked him.
“She’s on her way here, I already called her. “ he responded.
I scanned the faces of everyone in the hall and I couldn’t recognize anyone- I do not pay much attention to the staff. The only way to fish out the spy was to follow that disgusting scent.
Suddenly, Kara grabbed the hem of my shirt, pointing forward,
“It’s him!” She exclaimed, pointing to the direction of a man. I looked at him and looked back at Kara.
“Are you sure?” I asked her. “Yes, it really is him.” She responded
I looked in the same direction again, surprising the face from earlier had vanished.
But the scent remained.
Which only meant one thing; He’s a shapeshifter.
“Take Kara out, Peter “ I handed her over to Peter as they walked out and shut the door.
“I’ll give you a chance, whoever you are, show yourself and I will make your death less painful.” My eyes narrowed, expressing turning severe.
Nobody moved. So, I did.
I walked in circles, taking in the scent of anyone I passed till I reached him. I intentionally walked past him to make him think he is safe.
Suddenly, I spun back and came right in front of him.
“Found you.”
My eyes changed to fiery red and I could feel the monster within me roaring, trying to force its way out. I grabbed his neck, my claws digging in as he gasped for air.
“Leave! All of you! “ I commanded in a low growl and the rest of the servants fled the hall in fear.
Sighting a table at the far end of the hall, I lashed out with one hand, shattered it's legs and broke off a violently sharp edge. I released him and kicked him hard across the room, hurling the carved wooden spike at the same.
he slammed into one of the stone statues, the spike pierced through his chest, pinning him to the statue.
I walked over slowly, an evil grin spreading across my face.
"You pests from the shadow realm keep forcing my hand." I leaned in closer and whispered. "And I will be pleased to rip each and every one of you to shreds."
