** Nine **
** Jc's POV **
"In the count of five!" I started, and the whole crowd joined in the countdown.
"Five!"
"Four!"
"Three!"
"Two!"
"One!"
After turning off the light, I pulled Primera's waist towards me and kissed her on the lips.
As soon as our lips touched, her face suddenly brightened and gradually faded. The face of a woman I prayed for came back to life. Even though I looked at it dimly because of the light, I was full of intuition about what I saw.
When the light came back on, I stepped back in shock. Why did I see her? At that moment, I didn't think anything about her.
What can that mean? I don't seem to understand anything that has been happening these past few days. It's even weirder that I feel for Rhea. I feel like I've known her for a long time, and I immediately feel at ease with her.
"How is she doing?" I asked when I saw that Cyrel, her sister, had come out of her room.
"She's sleeping," Cyrel answered as she walked towards me. "She just needs to sleep and rest. She'll be okay." Then she sat in front of me.
"Isn't her condition dangerous? Maybe she needs a doctor?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.
"I've done that before, and I've taken her to every hospital. But the doctors didn't have a proper diagnosis for her condition," she explained.
"Has she been sick for a long time?"
"Her disease is inborn," she answered, looking me in the eyes intensely. "What happened that suddenly made her chest tighten?"
I suddenly became a rock in my seat. I really lost my mind about it. I hadn't prepared an excuse.
I just looked at the coffee in front of me to avoid her hair-raising look, and that's when I was able to think properly.
Can I tell her the truth? But I think she's going to hit me for sure.
"B-Because our clanmates made fun of her," I apologized while avoiding her gaze.
"Really? What are they doing to her?" she inquired.
Dead. I'm at a dead end.
I can't answer anymore. As in nothing, really. She didn't seem to believe what I said. I don't know Primera well enough to know what she doesn't like and what she fears.
I looked at Cyrel again. She was staring at me and obviously waiting for an answer. It felt like I was being fried in my seat.
I breathed a sigh of relief when the door to Primera's room opened, and the Sleeping Beauty came out. Cyrel and I turned around together and saw Primera walking towards us.
Finally, my nervous chest also relaxed. My brain was dry trying to think of an answer, but it's good that the Sleeping Beauty has woken up. 😀
"What happened to you? Your chest is tight again?" Cyrel asked Primera, a bit annoyed, as she approached us.
Primera glanced at me, obviously questioning if I had said anything. I shook my head a little to let her know that I didn't say anything.
"Because they scared me with a frog," she lied.
Cyrel sighed, "Unbelievable. You're too old to be afraid of frogs."
I laughed when I heard it. She is afraid of frogs. She's like a child.
I found out something funny about Primera.
"Alright. I'll leave now." I then stood up while still smiling at the fact that Primera was afraid of frogs.
"Just sleep here," Cyrel immediately answered. "It's too late, and it's dangerous outside. Maybe something else will happen to you."
"And where are you going to put him to sleep?" Primera immediately asked her sister before I could answer.
"In the room next to yours," Cyrel answered.
I just smiled, watching Primera as she argued with her sister. And as I observed her movements and speech, I suddenly remembered Crista. That's really how she argues; being calm, philosophical, and stubborn. She really looks like Crista.
"Aren't you ashamed?" Primera replied. "It hasn't been cleaned in five years, and you're going to put him to sleep in there?"
"Why? You want him to sleep in your room?" Cyrel scolded.
"Sister!" Primera almost raised her voice to her sister. "You invited a visitor inside, and you don't have any room to put him to sleep?"
"Is he my guest?" Cyrel scolded meekly. "You should learn how to take care of a guest."
"Did I tell him to sleep here?"
"Are you really lazy, or do you still not know how to clean?"
"Sister! What time is it? It's almost midnight. Then I'm going to clean a room that has been eaten by dust for five years!?"
"Do not be----"
"T-Thank you, but nothing will happen to me. I'm a man," I interjected to cut off their long discussion. "I'll just take a taxi home."
I felt awkward in the atmosphere. They were still arguing because of me.
Cyrel: No, I insist, okay?
Primera: Alright, I'll take you.
They both answered at the same time.
Suddenly, I was stunned and glanced at the two of them, trying to smile. Aren't they done arguing yet?
The atmosphere was so intense. Both of them were good at debating, and no one wanted to lose.
The two briefly looked at each other. They both frowned, but Primera seemed tired of arguing with her sister.
"Sister..." Primera spoke weakly.
"You're going to send him home this evening? If something happens to him, will you come with him?" Cyrel explained further.
"He can't sleep here," Primera replied. "Next time, okay? I'll clean it so when he visits again, he can sleep somewhere."
"I will remember what you said," Cyrel said, obviously agreeing to let me go home.
"I-I'll go first," I said goodbye. I'm shy.
Primera just smiled at her sister, and she accompanied me to the door and left their house.
We walked silently to the jeep waiting area while I bowed down, smiling. 😁
"Why are you smiling?" Primera asked when she noticed that I was grinning.
I'm still laughing at the fact that she's afraid of frogs. That's why I can't stop smiling. I don't want to tease her.
"Are you afraid of frogs?" I asked with a laugh and glanced at her face to see her reaction.
"Don't get me started," she replied, her annoyance evident.
I suddenly burst out laughing because her cheeks were so red. I don't know if she is holding back annoyance or shame. I just couldn't help it anymore, and I really laughed.
"What's so funny!?" she said, annoyed. Now it was obvious that she was holding back her anger.
"Primera, the dota girl, is afraid of frogs," I laughed, teasing her. Her face looked like a volcano about to explode.
"You gay, stop if you don't want me to break your neck," she still threatened.
I suddenly stopped laughing when she called me gay again. I looked at her seriously and pulled her arm closer to me. Our faces were so close to each other that our noses were almost touching, and I could feel her every breath.
"Who's gay?" I asked weakly and seriously while staring into her eyes.
She didn't waver from what I thought, and she also looked me in the eye. "You."
We stared into each other's eyes for a few minutes, and this girl was just really weird. Most of the time, the reaction of women who are stared at so closely by handsome men is to blush and be thrilled. But this one, it's like she's going to kill me because she looks at me so fiercely.
"You've been calling me gay for a while now, and I'm just holding back. If you don't stop and I run out of patience, you're going to pass out again," I said, my weak and serious threat.
"Are you scaring me?" she answered while crossing her arms. "Just try, and I'll kill you."
She didn't seem afraid of what I said. That's why I will take what I said very seriously. It's up to her if she faints again, as long as I really kiss this squirming girl.
I slowly lowered my face and brought it closer to her lips. She didn't even move a bit. She was really waiting to see if I would do it or not.
